AP English Language and Composition

According to The College Board Course Description, Advanced Placement English Language and Composition “engages students in becoming skilled readers of prose written in a variety of rhetorical contexts, and in becoming skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes.”  Consequently, students can expect a rigorous college course that will require them to examine the nature and history of the English essay; read broadly among a variety of authors, rhetorical purposes, and eras; engage in a significant study of writing as an art; and learn to employ the fundamentals of sound argumentation.
